Islam in the Holy Land

No other place on earth looks back upon a history so rich in faith and spirituality than the Holy Land. This tour focuses on Islam, one of the three monotheistic faiths, revealed to the Prophet Mohammed ﷺ‎ in the 7th century CE and features numerous of places relevant to its long-hold traditions and beliefs.

Day 1
Arrival Day

Upon arrival at Tel Aviv Airport, your ITERU representative will meet with you and welcome you to the Holy Land. You will then be transferred to your hotel in the Holy City of Jerusalem. The rest of the day is left for you to rest. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 2
Jerusalem’s Old City

After breakfast, your guide will meet with you at your hotel. Enter the Old City of Jerusalem through one of its seven gates and walk through its old and narrow streets. You will experience the different sounds and colors of the shopping streets of Jerusalem.

Visit the al-Aqsa Mosque and the Mosque of Kubbat al-Sakhra (Dome of the Rock Mosque, entry usually not permitted), the Tomb of Rabiya al-Adawiyya, the Islamic schools with their Mamluk style architecture, the Islamic Museum, the Temple of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Tomb of the Virgin Mary.

Afterwards, return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Jerusalem.

Day 3
The Tombs of Samuel and Abu Obeid

After breakfast your guide will meet with you at your hotel to start your tour by visiting the Tomb of the Prophet Samuel on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Afterwards, drive to Ramla and Jaffa to visit the Tomb of Abu Obeid and then on to Latroun. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 4
Jericho and its Vicinity

After breakfast your guide will meet with you at your hotel. Start the tour by driving eastwards to Jericho. On the road to Jericho, stop at the Nabi Moussa, the location where the tomb of the Prophet Moses is located – a location 11 km south of Jericho and 20 km east of Jerusalem in the Judean desert. It is revered by all Muslims because the prophet Moses, one of the great Prophets of Islam is buried here.

Continue to Jericho to visit Hisham’s Palace, where the famous Tree of Life mosaic is located. Visit the hill of Tell es-Sultan and see the ruins of the Old City walls of Jericho.

After Jericho continue to the Dead Sea. If you wish, you can bath or float in the Dead Sea and treat your skin to a very rich mineral mud from the sea. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 5
Hebron and Bethlehem.

As always your bus will be waiting for you to start your tour. After you meet with your guide you will drive to the village of Halhoul, which is located on a hill on the left side of the road, less than 5 kilometers from Hebron. The beauty of this village is shown in the abundance and fertility of this land, a region rich in vineyards, known for its grapes from the district of Hebron to have a distinctive taste.

Near the village is the mosque of Prophet Yunus bin Mata. According to Islamic tradition it was built over the grave of the Prophet. Then follow your guide on a walk through al-Khalil (Hebron), as it is called in Arabic, meaning “Friend of God”.

Visit the temple of Abraham (al-Haram al-Ibrahimi) and the tomb of the Prophets where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and their wives were buried. Also, the anointing of David is supposed to have happend here. The place is considered to be equally holy to Muslims, Christians and Jews. The biblical town Ma’mre, where legend says that Abraham pitched his tent, and three angels ushered him that his wife Sarah would give birth to a son, is also close by.

After Hebron return to Bethlehem, where you will visit the birthplace of the Prophet Issa (known as Jesus to Christians), at the church of Nativity. Return to Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in at your hotel in Jerusalem.

Day 6
The North of the Holy Land

Today you will drive to the north part of the country to visit Haifa and Mt. Carmel. Stop at the Baha’i Temple and Gardens. Upon your return visit the Tomb of the Prophet Ali.

Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 7
Departure Day

Transfer to the airport for your return flight or extensions.
