However the most remembered part of the history of Jews in Egypt is the Exodus but the fact is that Egypt had large Jewish community that however got smaller by time and due to political changes yet still represented through a small minority and a great cultural and historical heritage in the synagogues, cemeteries and ancient sites all over Egypt. This tour is designed to give you a deeper look into the history of Egyptian Jews.

Itinerary

Day 1
Welcome to Egypt

Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport our representative will meet and assist you with passport control, customs formalities and handling your luggage. Afterwards, transfer to your hotel.

Day 2
Pyramids of Giza

enjoy an extensive excursion to the Great Pyramids of Giza (UNESCO World Heritage Site), including the Solar Boat Museum, the giant Sphinx, the Valley Temple and an astonishing panoramic view of all three pyramids from the observation point.

After lunch have a lecture about WHO BUILD THE PYRAMID was it the Jews around the time of Moses.

Day 3
Egyptian Museum

In the morning , visit the Egyptian Museum with its rich Pharaonic treasures from all epochs of the Pharaonic Era including those of Tutankhamen and the Royal Mummy Room In an adventure trying to figure out where both the Pharonic history and the Torah are crossing roads.

Followed by an open discussion with your Egyptologist.

Day 4
Excursion visit to the first Jewish settlement in Egypt

Excursion visit to the first Jewish settlement in Elephantine Island which in ancient times stood at the borders between Egypt and Nubia. And pay a visit to the probably best displayed museum in the country, the Museum of Nubia. and the very well preserved Isis Temple of Philae (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a site as rich in history as in faith

Overnight in Aswan.

Day 5
Back to Cairo

Have a relaxed day in Aswan  and back to Cairo.

Day 6
Synagogues of Cairo

Visit to synagogues of Cairo,  Cha’ar Hashamayim synagogue, Then proceed to Ben Ezra Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in the city.And Maimonides synagogue.

After lunch, walk through the lively streets of Cairo which was made originally meant to be a copy of Paris! Listen to your guide as he shares his opinions about contemporary Egypt with you and feel the heart beat of the never ending city.

Day 7
Exodus

Drive through the road of Exouds to Saint Catherine. Walk with the children of God as they traveled through the area nowadays cut through by the Suez Canal and eventually arrived at Elim where they found 12 springs (Exodus 15,27) which are today known as the “Springs of Moses”. From here, the Israelites most likely headed deep into the Sinai Peninsula and camped at Rephidim where they successfully fought the Amalekites. Finally, by the evening, arrive with the people of the children of Israel at Mt. Sinai and enjoy dinner and rest in the guesthouse of St. Catherine Monastery.

Day 8
Desert Safari

Start early taking you 4 X 4 drive and start a safari trip around valleys and mountains of Sinai. Then spend time with local Bedouins of Sinai before returning back to the monastery guest house for an early night before your early hike.

Day 9-10-11
St. Catherine Monastery  And Taba Hights

At around 2 in the morning, start climbing on Mt. Sinai (2285m/7496ft), which is believed to be the very place where Moses received the Ten Commandments and where Israel gathered during the flight from Egypt (Exodus 24,12)

At the time of dawn, watch the sunrise over the peeks of Sinai and let the tenderness of the endless open space extend to your inner soul. A remarkable and spiritual experience!

After your descent, return to the guesthouse for breakfast then visit the Monastery of St. Catherine (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and hear about its interesting story. During your tour, see some of the masterpieces of the monastery’s treasures incl. early icons, liturgical objects, mosaics and reliquaries.

Then Drive to Taba Hights to enjoy the beach.

Day 12
Departure.

According to your flight time, private transfer to Airport for your return flight.
