Christianity in Egypt

Egypt is widely considered one of the homelands of Christianity. Its people were introduced to Christianity around 41 AD, making the Christian community in Egypt one of the oldest in the world.

Furthermore, Egypt is one of the countries where Jesus himself lived for some time during his escape from Herod (Matthew 2:13-21), therefore you can consider it to be a part of the Holy Land. Moreover, the Coptic Church of Egypt has granted Christianity the world's first theologians from the Alexandrian School of Theology and the world's first monks and monasteries introduced by St. Anthony the Great and the early Desert Fathers.

Till today, the traditional and highly ritualistic Coptic Church of Egypt remains one of the oldest churches in the world and our unique tours are designed to introduce you to two millenia of rich history as well as the interesting and fascinating heritage and daily life of today's Copts.
