Taste the Holy Land

"Taste the Holy Land" is more than the title of this fan­tas­tic culi­nary tour through Palestine and Israel. For nine full days, you will be tra­ve­ling throug­hout the Holy Land enjoy­ing tra­di­tio­nal bre­ak­fasts, lun­ches, din­ners and deserts, and on top of this, you will stop at famous wine­ries for wine tas­ting and an intro­duc­tion to wine and beer manu­fac­tu­ring along the Jor­dan Valley.

Day 1
Arri­val Day

Upon arri­val to Tel Aviv Air­port, and com­ple­ting for­ma­li­ties and lug­gage claim, you will be met by your guide and dri­ver. They will be with you throug­hout your jour­ney. Trans­fer to your hotel in Jeru­sa­lem for din­ner and overnight.

Day 2
The Old City of Jerusalem

For bre­ak­fast you will be a Jeru­sa­le­mite and enjoy an authen­tic hearty bre­ak­fast (Hum­mos, fool, fala­fel, salad and bread with the usual mint tea) at the 1900’s family run Abu Shu­kri restau­rant (its very local). Your guide will walk you through the streets of the Old City of Jeru­sa­lem. You will be intro­du­ced to the dif­fe­rent bazaars where you will indulge in all the scents they offer, whe­ther it be the spice bazaars or the fresh made brews of Ara­bic coffee.

Con­ti­nue for lunch to Bint al-Balad, a women’s coope­ra­tive who pre­pare local dis­hes to visi­tors. Walk along the Via Dolo­rosa, the Basi­lica of St. Anne and the pools of Bethesda. Con­ti­nue to the Church of the Holy Sepul­chure for a visit Con­ti­nue to. Return to your hotel for din­ner and overnight.

Day 3
Mt. of Oli­ves, Ein Kerem, Herodium

After bre­ak­fast you will board your coach and head to the Mt. of Oli­ves for a pan­o­ra­mic view of Jeru­sa­lem then con­ti­nue to visit Pater Nos­ter church fol­lo­wed by the church of all nati­ons and the basi­lica and gar­den of the Gethsemane.

Con­ti­nue to visit Ein Karem, a pic­tures­que anci­ent vil­lage known to be the home town for John the Bap­tist. Enjoy a light lunch in Ein Karem before con­ti­nuing to Hero­dium ano­ther palace built by King Herod. Con­ti­nue to Beth­le­hem and arrive at your hotel for din­ner and overnight.

Day 4
Beth­le­hem, Beit Jala, Hebron

After bre­ak­fast visit the Church of Nati­vity, con­ti­nue to the She­pherds field. Walk through the Old City of Beth­le­hem and admire the old archi­tec­ture and the old market.

After your visits con­ti­nue with your bus to the Cremi­san Monas­tery and Winery where you will enjoy a wine tas­ting as well as an over­view about the history, cul­ture and dif­fi­cul­ties of the clergy and the local Chris­tian neigh­borhoods. Con­ti­nue to visit and admire the pools of Sulei­mans Pools, from which water was drawn all the way to Jeru­sa­lem. Con­ti­nue to Hebron to visit the Old City have an over­view of local daily life then con­ti­nue to have a Hebro­nite early din­ner in a very local restau­rant. Return to hotel in Beth­le­hem for overnight.

Day 5
Bethany, Bir­zeit, Aboud, Jifna, Ramallah

After bre­ak­fast you will depart your hotel and drive to Bethany to visit the Tomb of Laza­rus, con­ti­nue to Wadi el-Quelt to have a short hike and visit the her­mit caves and monas­tery of St. George, the local Chris­tian patron saint con­ti­nue to Bir­zeit and onto the vil­la­ges of Aboud and Jifna, tra­di­tio­nally Chris­tian vil­la­ges to meet the people and admire the sur­roun­ding areas and enjoy the nature of the region.

Arrive in Jifna for a locally family-prepared lunch. After your late lunch, con­ti­nue to the bust­ling city of Ramal­lah to enjoy the famous Rukab ice-cream made with Ara­bic gum, creamy yet elas­tic. Arrive at your hotel in Ramal­lah for check-in and overnight.

Day 6
Tubas, Jenin, Nablus

Depart the hotel to the nort­hern vil­lage of Tubas and con­ti­nue to Jenin to visit a tra­di­tio­nal orga­nic farm where you will meet the main per­son behind res­to­ring tra­di­tio­nal methods of far­ming, visit the farm and then be divi­ded into groups and par­ti­ci­pate in pre­pa­ring a tra­di­tio­nal meal. After a dis­cus­sion about Palesti­nian cui­sine and the tra­di­tio­nal con­nec­tion to the land you will head to Nab­lus for some tra­di­tio­nal des­sert pre­pa­red with spe­cial semo­lina dough and goat cheese and drizz­led with rose­mary fla­vored syrup. Con­ti­nue to visit and meet the Sama­ri­tans. Return to your hotel in Ramal­lah for din­ner and overnight.

Day 7
Mas­sada, the Dead Sea & the Judean Desert, Jericho

Depart your hotel very early in the morning (optio­nal) to visit Mas­sada at dawn, con­ti­nue to visit an oasis in the desert at Ein Gedi and have a swim at the Dead Sea.

In the early after­noon head into the Judean desert for an encoun­ter with the nomads of Palestine, the Beduins, you will have a pre­pa­red meal ser­ved through the famous hos­pi­ta­lity of the beduins. Return to Jeri­cho con­ti­nue to the Mt. of Temp­ta­tion and ascend by cable car to the monas­tery. If time per­mits, visit the archeo­lo­gi­cal sites at His­ham Palace before arri­ving at your hotel in Jeri­cho for din­ner and overnight.

Day 8
The Sea of Gali­lee, Bisan, Caphernaum, Nazareth

Depart from your hotel in the very early morning to the Gali­lee. Visit the bap­tis­mal site on the Jor­dan river, a site shared with the King­dome of Jor­dan and con­ti­nue along the Jor­dan val­ley and visit the anci­ent vil­lage of Bisan. Arrive at lake Tibe­rias where you will have a board your boat for a cruise on the lake. You will enjoy a St. Peters fish lunch and then visit Capernaum, Tab­gha, and Cana before arri­ving at your hotel in Naza­reth. You will check-in and enjoy a din­ner in a tra­di­tio­nal restau­rant with local wines. In the eve­ning, have a walk through the streets of Naza­reth visit­ing Mary’s well and th Church of Annunciation.

Day 9
Haifa, Akko, Cae­sarea Mari­tima, Jaffa

After bre­ak­fast, you will head fur­ther north to visit the Druze com­mu­nity and enjoy their tra­di­tio­nal shrak thin bread with a goat cheese spread, some dried thyme and olive oil. Con­ti­nue to Haifa and visit the Stella Maris Monas­tery and the Bahai' Gar­dens and con­ti­nue to the wine­ries of Mt. Car­mel. You will enjoy your time with some wine, cheese and local fruits.

Con­ti­nue to Akko to visit the cru­sa­der fort­ress and then visit the roman capi­tal of Palestine at Cae­sarea Mari­tima. After­wards, pro­ceed south on your coas­tal drive to the Metro­po­li­tan city of Tel Aviv where you will enjoy a tra­di­tio­nal sea­food and Medi­ter­ra­nean mezze din­ner before arri­ving at your hotel for your final overnight.

Day 10
Depar­ture Day

After bre­ak­fast, you will enjoy some free time in Tel Aviv until your depar­ture time to the air­port. After assis­ting you with for­ma­li­ties at the air­port we bid you fare­well on your return flight home.
